The environment
This centre actively promotes conservation and encourages children and families to protect the environment. Native animals and insects are treated with care and respect and are allowed to remain free while appropriate observation for children’s information is made.
The planting of trees and shrubs indigenous to this particular area is carried out on a regular basis to give effective shade and to provide habitat for birds and other wildlife. Hygienic composting of lawn clippings and fruit waste is practised. Care of the environment is fostered among children and adults.
Our centre is very proud of our beautiful environment.
Our philosophy
At Chapel Hill Community Kindergarten we believe children learn best when:
they are recognised as competent and capable
they are intrinsically motivated
they are active participants in the learning process
their individual differences are catered for
the development of the “whole” child is encouraged
creativity is fostered
the environment is conducive to learning
they have daily interactions with nature
they have opportunities to take risks
Who is our governing body?
The Central Governing Body (CGB) oversees the distribution of government funding to kindergartens and childcare centres. Chapel Hill Community Kindergarten has elected C&K Childcare and Kindergarten as it CGB.
There are various levels of membership with C&K and our centre is an affiliate of C&K. Affiliation means that our Centre receives its funding via C&K, uses the C&K Curriculum Approach and abides by the C&K policies and standards.
C&K has been operating since 1907 and their high standards in kindergarten education are well recognised. The centre is run by the management committee made up of elected members from the parents of children attending the kindergarten.
We are a Government Approved Kindergarten
This means Chapel Hill Community Kindergarten is an 'Approved Kindergarten Program Provider' (KPP) as outlined and assessed by the Queensland Government, Office for Early Childhood Education and Care. The Kindy Tick alerts and assures parents that the Kindy program provided is delivered by qualified teachers and that the centre and program provided meet the eligibility criteria of providing a quality education as set out by the Queensland Government.
At Chapel Hill Kindy we operate under the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care. For further information on the National Quality Framework click here.
